Judging from President Uhuru Kenyatta’s New Year [2022] message to Kenyans, I opine one readying for titanic epic political battle with his deputy, Dr William Ruto that will led the loser into political oblivion. For any contest, it can result anyway.
By redefining leadership style in this address thus: “For starters, we must choose leadership over politics. Leadership is about is about vision; politics is about positions. Leadership is about the next generation; politics is about the next election,” Uhuru stated.
Although in my own discerning: Politics is presenting one conzualizeped policies-documented onto manifesto- to electorates to offer him or her leadership through legislative designed balloting process; for Uhuru was kind of castigating his deputy’s campaigns out of legislated period instead of assisting him [Uhuru] actualize their manifesto.
Leadership is about about next generation: Here, I see him [Uhuru] justify and defend infrastructure scale up his administration have undertaken that will serve generations to come-sustainable development.
In a nutshell,he was attributing his late evening economic growth achievement of second quarter 10.1% and 9.9% of third quarter respectively to his bold position he took with former premier Raila Odinga, while veinly attacking his deputy, hence endorsing him. If his schemes carry the day in 2022 general election, then his legacy continuity will be assured. But if it stifle, DP Ruto might act like what former US President Donald Trump did to Barack Obama legacy.
I justify Uhuru’s endorsement of Raila in one of concluding paragraph on leadership styles: “As we begin the new year, therefore, we must remember that a leader takes the bold path and blazes a trail. And a politician takes the popular path that pleases everyone, but takes them nowhere,” he eludes.
