Cholera Bed

Cholera patients can be admitted to a temporary hospital [school or church]. Strict isolation is not necessary as only the vomit and stools are infectious. These should be properly disposed of in a water carriage conservancy or ventilated-improved latrine. Hospital equipment can be cleaned with a disinfectant such as 5% Lysol.

The patients are treated on “cholera beds” with a central hole through which the continuous stools can pass into a bucket and be measured.
