On Wednesday, November 2, 2022, when I watched through media President William Ruto solemnly praying for 900 soldiers he flagged off to one the most volatile region in Democratic Republic of Congo. I recalled a verse in the Holy Book; a caution Jesus gave to St Peter after he ordained him:
John 21 : 18; “I tell you the truth, when you were younger you dressed yourself and went where you wanted; but when you are old you will stretch out your hands, and someone else will dress you and lead you where you do not want to go.”
I articulate this to mean Jesus was and is advising public servant on call of duty despite the perilous tasks one may encounter. Recall how many medics lost their lives during the peak of Covid-19 pandemic. Noting, soldiers combat dressing code, while medics don protective gear depicting the words of Jesus; “someone will dress you.”
