Abstract nouns_are nouns that cannot be touched or seen but can only be perceived. They are mainly formed from other word classes. For example,- the word laugh forms abstract noun laughter.
In that vein, I presume Easter was formed from the word east.
East due to the fact that the sun rises from east is taken as the new beginning which is termed as a new dawn. Hence Easter Monday should be-the beginning of the new year based on the chronology in the following- Biblical verses:
Exodus 12.1-3: The Lord said to Moses and Aaron in Egypt, “This month is to be for you the first month, the first month of your year. Tell the whole community of Israel that on the tenth day of this month each man is to take a lamb for his family, one for each household.”
Leviticus 23. 5: “The Lord’s Passover begins at twilight on the fourteenth day of the first month.”
Numbers 28.16: “On the fourteenth day of the first month the Lord’s Passover is be held.”
Luke 22.1-5: “Now the Feast of Unleavened Bread, called the Passover, was approaching, and the chief priests and the teachers of the law were looking for some way to get rid of Jesus, for they were afraid of the people. Then Satan entered Judas called Iscariot, one of the Twelve. And Judas went to the chief priest and the officers of the temple guard and discussed with them how he might betray Jesus. They were delighted and agreed to give him money.”
The common denominator in the above herewith Biblical account is Passover. Meaning: Jesus was crucified and risen during the Passover a link to the Book of Exodus 12: that dictates the start of the Calendar year cradle.
So, in my view, the year should start on Easter Monday to conform with God’s decree.
