In the 6th week, roost for chicks to perch on are introduced. Also grit [sand] is introduced to help in the digestion of the feed. In the 7th week growers mash is introduced. This should be 1/4 mixed with 3/4 ration of the chick mash. When chicks are eight weeks old they are removed from the brooder. Reduce the amount of chick mash gradually while increasing the amount of growers mash.
In the 9th week chicks are fed on growers mash only. At this time the growers are big enough to be taken to the main poultry house.
