In 1932 Franklin D. Roosevelt became President of the United States of America. It was the worst time of the Depression; the country had never been a worse state. Although the New Deal laws to end the Depression were spread over many years, Roosevelt began with emergency action. For one hundred days, from 8 March to June 1933, hence the advent of ‘Hundred Days’ slogan.
The New Deal was based on three principles fairly new to American governments.
