Mpox ! A Typical Contagious Disease

Contagious diseases are transmitted by direct or indirect contact. Direct contact is by skin-to-skin contact, for example, by touching an infected person. Indirect contact is by handling contaminated objects such as clothing, bedding, dressings and towels

Mode of transmission of contagious diseases is facilitated by high population density, overcrowding, poor personal hygiene and close personal contact-during sexual intercourse. Inadequate water supply often contributes to disease transmission.

Thence Mpox manifest almost the same ; direct transmission and indirect transmission.

Direct transmission :-

-Direct contract of body fluids during sex intercourse

-Coughs and sneezes from an infected person

-Touching mpox skin blisters or scabs

Indirect transmission :-

-Touching clothing, bedding or towels used by infected person

-Touching infected surfaces

-Wash hands with soap and under running water or use alcohol-based sanitizers after contact with infected persons or animals

-Washing clothes and beddings at high temperature in an approved disinfectant, such as 0.5 chlorine solution.
