FIFA World Cup : A Dip in Jesus’ Bowl

I vividly recall one Xmas a ferocious neighbor lad dipped into my plate at round table at Xmas party thrown to us by a one affluence neighborhood family. Likewise, it happened to Jesus, a corrupt disciple, Judas Iscariot:

Jesus replied, “The one who has dipped his hand into the bowl with me will betray me.” Matthew 26 : 23. This verse, Jesus was and is implying that everybody is appropriated income. Be it salary, wages, profit or farming income. So, soliciting for a bribe. Is like dipping your hand into somebody else bowl’s of livelihood.

And this what happened in 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil by Africa football officials; Ghanaian players boycotted training and threatened to walk out of the tournament due to unpaid bonuses, prompting the government of the day through the Ghana Football Association to fly in about Sh 304 million in cash to the players.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria to had a similar incident, which forced then President Goodluck Jonathan to intervene, assuring senior players that their bonuses would be paid. The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon failed to board the plane to Brazil due to money issues, but later did, arriving a day late.

Am hoping against hope, this will not happen to our African teams participating at FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. For at least maybe revive prediction in 1977 by the greatest footballer of all time Brazilian Pele, that an African nation would win the World Cup before the year 2000.
