In my understanding, Jews, and especially their rulers, were expecting to be a militant kind of savior, who was to marshal warfare like Yoweri Museveni of Uganda, and secure independence from Roman empire for them. That why even King Herod was disturbed when he heard of Jesus’ birth.
But according to the book of John 12: verse 12-15; in the Holly Bible. It talks of different type of a King, one riding on a donkey, instead on horse chariots armed with spears, the weapons of war of those times. Escorted by multitude of believers, also carrying and waving palm branches, instead of swords on their triumphal entry to the main capital City Jerusalem, hence endeared himself [Jesus] as a peaceful revolutionary and reformist.
Revolutionary on democratic political leadership evidenced elected leaders swearing holding the Bible, and reformist in social cultural practices devoid of tribal clashes, but universal culture premised on Christianity belief.
