Good Riddance Sadden Death Rule

I cherished it when first introduced only to be disheartened at moment of breakthrough. In 2002 World Cup, my favorite African team, Senegal lost 1-0 to Turkey in extra time by the golden goal rule-popularly referred as ‘Sadden Death’- in the quarters.

Under this rule, a match that had gone into extra time after the initial 90 minutes of play would be determined by the first goal to be scored. However, I presume with my prayers, the rule was later abolished by the International Football Association Board, in 2004, marking a return to the 30 minutes extra time and penalties. That behind us, I predict one of Africa participating at 2022 Qatar World Cup will beyond quarter finals, God willing.
